SELF-PACED LEARNING

Because HAI’s typical student is an adult learner with family and professional responsibilities, our flexible learning format works within your own schedule.  You may enroll at any time and progress at your own pace as the rest of your life plan allows.  Although, learning at HAI is self-paced, we do ask that all courses and programs be completed within two years of the initial enrollment date.

Most of our courses require about sixty hours of study time.  Some students are able to complete a course in as little as two weeks, while others may take a month or more.  Our programs then, each consisting of three to twelve courses, can easily be completed within one to two years or even less with a regular study routine.

The Many Advantages of

Bach Flower Remedies

Bach Flower Essence Therapy was developed in the 1920s and 30s by British researcher and physician, Dr. Edward Bach.  Bach eventually turned from the allopathic medicine of his day to that of homeopathy.  It was his understanding that the treatment of symptoms was not adequate to heal disease; rather, one needed to get to the root cause to truly restore health.  He increasingly observed the psychic components in physical illnesses, and understood that these related to certain personality types and specific negative reaction patterns.  Bach decided to concentrate fully on studying the different personality types or soul qualities and finding the corresponding healing plants.  Together with his assistant, Nora Weeks, he discovered and prepared the thirty-eight Bach Flower Remedies and Rescue Remedy. . . . Aromatherapy:  Ancient

Wisdom for Modern Times

Although the contemporary practice of modern aromatherapy originated only within the last hundred years, the use of aromatic plant substances for healing purposes can be traced back to all the major ancient civilizations of the world.  Ancient writings describe the use of aromatic herbs, spices, resins, fats, oils, vinegars, wines, beers, and more for rituals, embalming, healing, and beatification.  It is believed that aromatic plants have actually been used by humankind since the dawn of human history. . . . to a mysterious tune,

intoned in the distance

In the HAI Master Herbalist Diploma Program, you will address the issues of being a community herbalist and of practicing herbal medicine in the modern world.  You will cover the many practical aspects of herbalism, including:  growing, drying, and preparing medicinal herbs; learning to listen to clients and recommend holistic treatments for healing and continued wellness; licensing, marketing, and other legal and business issues facing modern herbalists; herbal workshops, conferences, and education centers; and comprehensive resources and suggestions for building your herbal library.

You will be introduced to plants used in traditional Western herbalism, as well as those from Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda; the latest findings concerning phytonutrients, the beneficial vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that are found in many readily available plant foods; trees with healing energies; and plants that are traditionally employed for spiritual healing.  You will become familiar with the holistic approach to herbalism, which places it in a broader context revealing plants in their affinity for healing the whole person—their inner health, relationships, and life in the world.

Information on more than 200 herbs and herbal combination formulas; detailed coverage of Chinese and Ayurvedic herbs; discussion of more than 150 common disorders and their suggested herbal therapies; and meticulously researched findings culled from the latest studies on individual herbs will be included.  Step-by-step instructions are provided for making numerous herbal preparations including water infusions and decoctions, hydrosols, flower essences, tinctures, wine infusions, vinegar infusions, glycerin infusions, oil infusions, ointments, salves, balms, lotions creams, syrups, honeys, poultices, and much, much more.  You will gain the herbal medicine-making wisdom necessary to create an herbal pharmacy tailored to your lifestyle; develop and refine your medicine making skills to suit your needs; and prepare your very own superior quality herbal medicines.

You will come to recognize the interior workings of the human body as a whole, covering the skeletal, muscular, circulatory, lymphatic, respiratory, nervous, digestive, urinary, reproductive, endocrine, and integumentary body systems.  You will discover how learning the language of the chakras and nurturing these spiritual qualities can simultaneously strengthen our physical bodies and help us heal illness and maintain health.  You will learn how to use Clinical Kinesiology to reveal chakra imbalances, food sensitivities, immune system function, unique health problems, and also to identify healing recommendations.  Covered as well are various healing therapies designed to reverse or alleviate imbalances such as:  Bach Flower Remedies, aromatherapy, dietary wellness therapies, and much, much more.

Most importantly, you will develop the skills necessary for the creation of comprehensive Holistic Wellness Plans.  A project, wellness planning practicum, and individualized faculty guidance support learning.  Also provided are numerous questionnaires, forms, and client handouts to aid you in the client assessment and wellness plan development processes.

The master skills developed in the MH Diploma Program will enable you to start or enhance your own holistic healing business; provide in-depth holistic wellness consultations; integrate herbal therapies in your work as a doctor, nurse, massage therapist, or any other healing profession; or offer your holistic healing expertise in other professional capacities.  Considering that some similar programs may cost many thousands of dollars, this program is clearly an astounding value.  But most amazing of all, upon completion of any five HAI courses you will also earn Certification as a Holistic Health Practitioner (HHP).
